| Veritas is happy to announce the addition of Logan Wallick to its staff as Client Care Specialist. Logan first began at Veritas as a part-time senior intern from Florida Gulf Coast University last year. His primary responsibilities in his new position will be to provide service to Veritas clients while establishing long-term relationships of trust and confidentiality. He will work with Workers' Comp maintenance and records, COBRA, Short Term Disability, new hire reporting, and general client data updating. In addition, he will manage all aspects of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and the U.S. Golf Learning Institute (USGLI) Training Program.
When asked what he always wanted to be when he grew up, Logan said a pediatrician. (Surprise! He didn't say a Client Care Specialist.) But, how does one go from wanting to be a doctor for children to a human resource professional? First, he was repulsed by biology; second, he was intrigued by a course in high school economics (kudos to the teacher!). Thus, he began to splash around in the numeric waters of risk pools and benefit pools, and he surfed the waves of understanding that came as he began to see the advantages of the economies of scale, especially when tipped by the invisible hand. (Stay with the flow - it's the advantages that are tipped here, not the scale.) In short, Logan was headed for a degree in business.
He worked his way through the university in part-time employment at the Ale House where he began as a server, then was an in-store trainer coordinating new employee orientation as well as tending bar. It was largely through these exposures and experiences that he realized his enjoyment of customer service and working with the public. He completed his B.S. last month, and in August, he will begin work on his M.B.A. at FGCU. In the meantime, he is working on his PHR certification (Professional in Human Resources).
In his spare time, he is remodeling his home. He enjoys boating, and he has two of the cutest, most energetic dachunds ever - Maddie and Lola. He also is a volunteer at the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in the interest of preservation and restoration of the mangrove estuary.
Logan hails from Dover, Ohio, which is nestled in the Midwest's former Steel Belt, some 245 miles due east of Kokomo, Indiana, and 314 miles west of Allentown, Pennsylvania. So, one might be tempted to ask Logan if he ever made the introspective query: Why, oh why, oh why, oh - did I ever leave Ohio? But then, his life is so full these days, that the answer would probably be a simple, "no."
Ohio's loss is Florida's gain, which has net value-added to Veritas. That's good business. Splash! |
